Establish rituals
I’ve been reading Ten Survival Skills for a World in Flux by Tom Fletcher this morning, which describes how you can establish rituals to help you live a good life. It gives the example of the Dalai Lama who reflects every morning that
Today I am fortunate to have woken up. I am alive. I have a precious human life. I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others. I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.

I’ll soon be starting a new job and have decided to come up with my equivalent and pin it to the top of the document I use to track my daily work. This will mean it’s the first thing I’ll be presented with when I start work.
